Christie Digital

HIGH POWER - For the Canadian company Christie Digital System Inc (CDS) we designed the mechanical concept and covers for their new rental staging product; Roadster. The main objective was to create a rigid/lightweight design and a product with high service/transport friendliness. With use of an aluminum base plate and corner aluminum extrusions we created a self supporting and rigid framework. The integration of handles, which also brought further stiffness to the product, makes it easy to transport and handle the product in a hectic rental staging environment. Due to self supporting framework and a rigid EMI shielding design the covers were designed as “add on” panels. With use of quarter turn screws these panels can be easily removed for quick servicing and maintenance. As always, our network of suppliers was used to obtain competitive tool, part and painting cost.

LOW POWER - For the Canadian company Christie Digital System Inc (CDS) we designed the cabinet for their new 3 chips projector in the DS-serie. The main objective was to create a light, but rigid design with high production friendliness. Previous products from CDS, with the light output as the DS-serie, were based on several sheet metal covers. Due to more compact electronic design/components and a better thermal design, CDS and ED managed to keep the core size of the product to a level where plastic cabinets were highly competitive. An aluminum base were used to obtain sufficient stiffness and a “wrap around” cabinet with features as lamp door, dust covers, air openings and adjustable feet were designed. As for the Roadster, our network of suppliers was used to obtain competitive tool, part and painting cost.
